We are both absolutely in love with it. Back when we were talking about early ideas, our editors raised the idea of an oil painting, and showed us some work by our incredible artist, Elizabeth Wakou, and neither of us have ever replied to an email so fast. Elizabeth’s work is absolutely gorgeous, and for a book that’s all about challenging the patriarchy, it just felt so right to put these two queer young women into a type of art they’d have been almost completely excluded from.

There are so many little touches we love — that tea cup Isobelle’s holding is there for a reason! You look at these ladies and just know there’s a story behind them… and gosh, is there ever.
