Meg: We made it to the end of 2021! We did it! Well, we’re close, anyway.
Amie: I mean, we stayed up until midnight on December 31st, 2020, to make sure that memorable-for-all-the-wrong-reasons year definitely left the building, rather than ticking over to December 32nd.
Meg: True story. We are so ready for 2022.
Amie: Before we wrap up 2021 for good, though, we have lots of bookish news for you!
In this issue:
Beyond The End of the World is out in January!
Rebellion of the Lost is out in January too!
The paperback of The World Between Blinks is now available!
Aurora’s End is a NYT bestseller!
Beyond the End of the World
Meg: Beyond The End of the World, the sequel to The Other Side of the Sky, is coming on January 18th, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. This book is one of the hardest things we’ve ever written, created through lockdowns from opposite sides of the world, but all that hard work paid off. We’re so in love with how this series ends.
Amie: This book has maybe the biggest twist we’ve ever written — and we know that’s saying something. It’s so good, though. So much of what we laid down in book one and have been patiently waiting to reveal will come out now!
Meg: The series is a duology, so you’ll get a full conclusion in this book, and there’s a recap of book one in the front, in case you’re like us and find it helpful to have your memory jogged. If you’re in the US, you can pick up the paperback of book one right now.
Amie: Here’s what it’s about:
Nimh still holds on to her divinity, if only by a thread.
In her final confrontation with Inshara, the woman determined to take her place and rule Nimh’s kingdom, both Nimh and her enemy were sent to the world above, in the cloudlands.
Now North looks to the sky, left behind on the surface world.
Desperate for a chance to join the girl he loves and save his home, North will stop at nothing to find a way back to the sky-city of Alciel, before it’s too late to save anyone.
But more awaits them in the world above than North or Nimh could ever expect. And as they come together and team up with allies from above and below, they face the ultimate test of their bond, their abilities, and their belief in each other in a quest to save their worlds.
Vivid, compelling, and absolutely magnetic, this much-anticipated sequel to New York Times bestselling authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner’s The Other Side of the Sky has something for every reader: a star-crossed love full of tantalizing longing, unique and immersive new worlds to explore, and nonstop thrills that escalate into an unforgettably electric conclusion.
Meg: Preorder now, celebrate when it shows up on your doorstep in January! If you have a friend you know enjoyed The Other Side of the Sky, you can forward them this email to remind them the sequel’s due out!
Amie: And if you do preorder, a thousand thank-yous. We’re really excited for you to read it, and we both appreciate your support so much.
Rebellion of the Lost
Meg: The World Between Blinks: Rebellion of the Lost, is coming on January 4th in the US, and Feb 2nd in Australia! It’s the conclusion to Amie’s middle grade series, co-authored with Ryan Graudin, and it’s as packed full of adventure as the first. If you have a reader aged 8 - 12 in your life, or one who’s a little younger than that who likes to read bedtime stories with you, this one’s for you.
Amie: It has some of my favourite historical moments ever in it, as well as a few creatures that might just be mysterious in our world because they’re mostly in the World Between Blinks. For instance, did you know that the lost dogs of our world often hang out in the World Between Blinks? They live in happy packs in the floating mountains, which are a bunch of islands suspended in the sky, made up of the tops of volcanoes that were blown out of existence… in this world, anyway. Their caretakers are the yetis, who have this incredibly slide made of ice, that— well, you’ll have to read the book.
Here’s what it’s about:
When Jake and Marisol return unexpectedly to the World Between Blinks, they find that nothing is as they left it. The Administrator is on an unstoppable mission, ordering his Curators to catalog absolutely everyone and everything as if they're exhibits in a museum. Â
With rebels like Amelia Earhart and Queen Nefertiti facing the threat of their hourglasses of memories being flipped, Jake and Marisol, along with Marisol’s big brother, Victor, must locate a mysterious item known as the Rocket. This unknown object is their only chance to defeat the Administrator—before everything that makes the World wonderful is lost, in a whole new way.…
Meg: The paperback of The World Between Blinks, book one in the series, is out now in the US! If you need a holiday gift for that young reader in your life, it’s just $7.99… and when they ask for the sequel, you can tell them it’s about to come out!
Aurora’s End is a NYT bestseller!
Amie: Aurora’s End came out in November, completing the Aurora series. It was #1 YA bestseller in Australia for weeks, and hit the incredibly competitive New York Times series list — this is particularly hard to do, as the list is calculated based on the sales of all the books in a particular series. When you’re up against massively popular series with over a dozen books in them, finding a way to squeeze in is an intimidating prospect! But we did it, and that’s all thanks to our incredible readers. If you picked up a copy of Aurora’s End, or recommended it to a friend, or requested it at your library, thank you.
Official merch is now available— you can grab a tshirt, hoodie, mug, cushion or lots more, celebrating your graduation from Aurora Academy alongside Squad 312. Click here to check it all out.
And that’s it for 2021!
Meg: To all of you, and everyone we love, we hope you’re safe, happy and well over the holidays, and the new year.
Amie: We can’t wait to share Beyond the End of the World and Rebellion of the Lost with you in 2022 — until then, happy reading!
